The printing method is merely an introduction to the fundamentals. The following will share with you several processes. Allowing you to better understand the process’s characteristics and so improve the quality of your packaging.
Process Manual: Gold/Golden Hot Stamp
Definition of Gold Hot Stamp
Gold Hot Stamp is a printing decoration procedure in which a metal printing plate is heated, foil is applied, and gold text or patterns are embossed on the printed substrate.
There are two types of stamping: hot stamping and cold stamping.
Hot stamping is a post-process that involves applying pressure and heat to the surface of the substrate to transfer gold foil.
Cold stamping is a method of directly applying metal foil to the surface of a substrate on a printing machine using UV printing glue. It is dubbed “cold stamping” since no heat is used.
Stamping mainly has two functions: one is surface decoration, to improve the added value of the product. The second is to give the product a high anti-counterfeiting performance. The use of holographic positioning stamping trademark logo, anti-counterfeiting, to protect the brand.
The Color of Gold Hot Stamp
The colors of hot stamping are divided into many kinds, besides the common gold and silver. There are also green gold, blue gold, red gold, laser gold, and so on. and the color foil provided by different suppliers also varies. Since there are many differences in the subdivision of the foil stamping process, the color foils offered by different suppliers vary.
Application of Hot Stamping
The stamping area is generally small. Commonly used in logos, brand names, etc., and mainly used in the cover, and packaging. Paper, plastic, wood, and leather can all be used to improve the grade and highlight the importance of the focus.
Hot stamping product application:
Notes on Gold Hot Stamping
The text size for hot stamping cannot be less than 7PT. Or the paste edge phenomena will occur, and a smaller Song font cannot be used.
Printed out of the finished product looks broken (printing failure), the surface drops gold powder (printed not firm), the majority of these problems are caused by a low temperature, insufficient time or pressure.
Hot stamping vs. cold stamping: hot stamping has a better effect but is more costly, while cold stamping has a somewhat worse effect but is less expensive, depending on the size of the stamping area.
General hot stamping, is in the lamination before doing stamping; cold stamping is in the stamping will be completed after the second protection, and then cover a layer of film, after the lamination of metal texture will be slightly worse, the light will also be reduced.
